Telling the story of Poulnabrone - the most famous of the Clare dolmens. Proud of their county, Western Herd pays homage to 33 of their ancestors that were buried underneath this sacred burial place.

The great dolmen of Poulnabrone is one of County Clare’s most impressive archaelogical sites. Built between 4200BC and 2900BC it was the burial setting for 33 of our Clare ancestors. These days, Poulnabrone is a noted location for astronomical observation and so we thought it fitting to feature 33 stars above the great megaliths.
Here’s to our County’s past.

In sourcing ingredients for our Dolmen Irish Whiskey Stout we didn’t have to go far. That’s because we have the finest artisan suppliers right on our doorstep in County Clare. This stout is aged in whiskey barrels from The Chapel Gate Irish Whiskey Company in West Clare. It’s flavoured with coffee roasted by Anam in the Burren and with cocoa nibs from Hazel Mountain Chocolate - also in the Burren.
